Blade and ProLiant Health Check

Infrastructure Health Check Services

Services are delivered remotely over a one week period. Data collector tools are installed to collect Server firmware and driver information. Results are analyzed and a customized best practices document is prepared with remediation recommendations.

Enclosure Health Check Scope

  • Collect OA, ILO and server firmware revisions
  • Document current server models and processor levels
  • Document current OS levels
  • Document LAN switch, SAN switch, pass thru module, Virtual Connect and FlexFabric firmware levels
  • Document HBA and NIC driver levels (Windows and Redhat Linux)
  • Document any new blade components being added to the enclosure
  • Research multi-step OA upgrade process
  • Research ILO and server firmware upgrades associated with each OA
  • Research OS compatibility with firmware updates

Deliverables

Gap Analysis

  • Review and collect configuration data
  • Prepare gap analysis based on industry best practices
  • Prioritize recommendations

Remediation Plan

  • Develop remediation plan designed to address highest risk items
  • Review gap analysis and remediation recommendations with customer

Note: all remediation work requires a full proposal

 

Proactive Firmware Upgrades for New or Remediated Blade and ProLiant Servers

Tier 1 Blade Enclosure Integration

  • Deliver all tasks listed in the Enclosure Health Check Scope twice a year
  • Review upgrade mitigation plan to client
  • Schedule upgrade work with client staff
  • Discuss roll-back options with the client staff
  • Discuss impact on current OS deployments
  • Upgrade firmware and I/O drivers (Windows and Redhat Linux)
  • Document final upgraded state

Client Responsibilities

  • Client is responsible for all OS and driver upgrades
  • Client is responsible for scheduling upgrade outage windows
  • Client is responsible for any SAN upgrades outside the blade enclosure

Notes:

  • IIS can provide SAN assessment and remediation proposals upon request.
  • Devices include enclosures, servers, switches, Virtual Connect modules and FlexFabric modules.
  • Upgrades for devices/servers outside the enclosure can be quoted upon request.
